Jessica Nacheman

Co-Founder

Jessica Nacheman has been an attorney for 37 years, primarily counseling U.S. major energy companies on regulatory matters. The first twelve years of Jessica’s legal career focused on practicing both federal and New Jersey state Environmental Law, followed by an expansion of her practice to include a wide variety of regulatory legal specialties, including immigration, antitrust, lobbying, and general corporate laws. Since her retirement from ExxonMobil in 2015, Jessica has devoted her time to a number of issues of importance to her, with a particular emphasis on climate change.

Jessica joined the Exxon Corporation family of companies as in-house environmental counsel to Exxon Research and Engineering Company (ERE), which provided downstream research and engineering services to Exxon. There she rose to an executive level legal position and provided general counsel for ERE, and, following the 1999 merger between Exxon and Mobil corporations, for ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company.

Jessica began her career as an Environmental Scientist, but as her position in Environmental Sciences for the Environmental Affairs and Toxicology Division at Mobil Corporation concentrated increasingly on regulatory affairs, she decided to pursue a JD.

After earning her Law degree with a focus on Environmental Law, Jessica opted to expand her environmental legal base beyond the petroleum industry and spent five years at two major law firms specializing solely in environmental issues including CERCLA (Superfund), RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), TSCA (Toxic Substances and Control Act), CAA (Clean Air Act), and CWA (Clean Water Act).

Jessica earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania with a dual major in Biology and English, and a Masters in Public Health specializing in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from Columbia University. Her JD, with a focus on Environmental Law, was earned at New York Law School.
